Shortly after visiting Harvard, Rihanna started her own university. In form of a fashion show. 55 looks was presented at the French National library for Fenty x Puma’s third collection earlier this evening and Rih took us to school, or rather detention, while serving major Hogwarts feels (a good thing). I was happily surprised to see that the livestream on Rihanna’s Instagram came from backstage while the official PUMA livestream showcased the runway. It was such a treat to see her in action and be able to listen in while she worked.

Other highlights: Slick Woods opening the show, Cara Delevingne jumping up to give Rih a standing ovation and Mama Fenty looking proud and ah-mazing per usual.

Just stepping in to tell everyone who’s still craving some Fenty x Puma that Caliroots (amongst others) have some pieces on sale from now until Sunday. I hate capitalism and myself for posting so much about to where and buy things and such but that’s life and sometimes you just have to forgive yourself. :)

Rihanna isn’t in Paris to just showcase her own line. This Friday she was seen next to Kate Moss at Dior’s show, looking over the top beautiful and radiant (she’s glowing, you can see her glowing right?).

Wearing dress and bag from Dior and DSquared2 ”RiRi” sandals.

I tried looking at Dior’s live stream but thought it was super boring to be honest. I get that it’s amazing how they’ve finally gotten their first female creative director in Maria Grazia Chiuri EVER (less than 20% of the brands showing in Paris had women creative directors last year) but it’s still clothes for white, skinny, upper class women modeled by white models so….

Sure, Rihanna and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie were both sitting front row and there were a few black models on the runway (two by the time I shut the live stream off) but let’s be honest, Dior has a long way to go if they aim to match that ”We should all be feminists” (the titel from Chimamanda’ s famous TEDxEuston speech) t-shirt with some actual action.

Help me out if I’m wrong here but I don’t understand what kind of feminism this consumer idea of ahop you’re way to change is? Yes, some rich woman wears a t-shirt that says we should all be feminists. She feels good about it. Someone is offended. Sweet. But it’s still the same women working in the factories for nothing while predominantly white models are payed huge money to walk the show. And models of color still NOT getting that paycheck. And the same, skinny bodies fitting into the clothes. So what is the feminist statement in that? From where I’m sitting it just looks like a brand trying to score some points in a more politically aware crowd without changing anything substantial about the way their clothes and ideals are being produced. Happy to discuss this further though, I’m no fashion world expert after all.

To end this off on a happier note: here’s some more pics of Rihanna:

”What Marie Antoinette might wear to the gym, or play tennis in.”

That’s how Rihanna describes her spring/summer 17 collection for Puma. The shows (yup, there was an intermission before a second, slightly different, screening) took place at Hotel de Salomon De Rothschild in Paris. ”I chose Paris because I wanted people to feel the entire tone of the new collection.”, she tells Vogue. Some recognizable faces chosen for the runway was Anwar Hadid, Sita Abellan (Rih’s badass sidekick from the Bitch Better Have My Money music video) and Taylor Hill.

It’s a bomb ass collection and has been declared so by everyone. Yes, everyone. I can guarantee the less expensive pieces like the bow slides, socks and chokers will sell out in no time.

Ok none of them will not be expensive but on the lower end at least. And the hoodies. And the parkas. And the silk dresses. I’ve been wondering when she’d take the silk to Puma. Seeing how it’s her everyday go-to (see this thread for some examples) and all of her fashion collaborations have been about putting her special mark on a brand, silk was just waiting to happen. We didn’t see in her for collection for Puma but with spring the silk has arrived.

Rihanna’s friends and family was of course there to witness the show, some lucky  Tidal prescribers (our gal Becca being one of them), models Jourdan Dunn, Doutzen Kroes and Sara Sampaio and a bunch of famous fashion folks. If you haven’t already seen the presentation, it’s still available on fenty.tidal.com. Just remember to stay tuned after the first show because there will be more.
