I was watching the live stream from D.C earlier and for the first time since the election night I felt (somewhat) hopeful. There were so many brave, intelligent, compassionate, funny and intersectional feminists speaking I just sat there in awe. Like wow, we can and we will put an end to this nightmare. We have to.

After that homicide, a picture surfaced that had us all freaking out. Drake was spotted suited up backstage, and that could only mean one thing: he’s going to present her with the vanguard award and propose in the process. I’m not kidding. This was the only thought that went through my mind upon seeing him in that bowtie. And my eyes teared up, because Aubrih <3

What happened next you ask? She ended the show with THE performance of the night. So classy, so over the top, so beautiful. From the ANTi World Tour to the VMA stage – this is Rihanna. Vulnerable, raw and engaged. LINK because I can’t figure out how to get the damn video into the blog.

Directly after Love on the brain Drake walked up on stage and handed her the Vanguard.

Here, I lost it. 100% gone is what I was. Am. I heard him saying ”she’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old” and screamed. She on the other hand just rolled her eyes.

He went on praising her existence, saying ”most of all we love the woman that hasn’t changed since day one”. She responded with a dab.

He tried kissing her. She dodged.

But they wore matching outfits which was cute. Or, Drake picked something that would match Rih’s look. That’s also cute though.

Now, let’s focus on Rihanna’s speech. She was as natural as always and I got goosebumps on several occasions. Like when she said this:

Rihanna’s collaboration with Manolo Blahnik – Denim Desserts – have been out since May 5. This being a collab none of us will ever be able to afford, the shoes cost betweet $895 to $3,995, let’s take a look at some of the few people with major work benefits (or just rich enough) to try on the ”9 to 5” showstoppers.

First up we have JLo, who wore the boots in her Ain’t Yo Mama music video. Rihanna sent her the boots herself and JLo decided they were too bomb not to be in the video.

She recently did a Q&A on her Facebook page in which she talked about how it was to dance in them.

”They were hard to dance in. Everybody else was dancing, as you see, in kinda like combat boots and sneakers, and I walked out to the set and I was like, ‘Nobody wearing heels but me? OK!’ It was on concrete, outside, so it wasn’t the easiest boot to ever dance in, but we pulled it off.”

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has also attempted to ”dance” in the $3,995 denim foot/legwear.

And then there’s ELLE editors Julie Schott, Sally Holmes, and Leah Chernikoff who were sent out by Nikki Ogunnaike, senior fashion editor at Elle, to try them out on the streets of New York.

Announcing the collaboration, Rihanna told Vogue UK:

She’ll have to tweet her but what appears to be a ”regular human being with a Twitter account” has been spottet rocking the boots in front of her bedroom mirror.
