Det finns ingenting, typ, som gör mig lika ödmjuk som speedruns. En speedrun är när en riktigt skicklig spelare klarar ett spel på overkligt kort tid. Ofta genom att exploatera små kryphål i banor. Eller bara vara ruskigt snabb i tummarna.
En speedrun är till exempel när någon klarar Super Mario Bros på under fem minuter.
Awesome Games Done Quick är ett event skapat av Speed Demoes Archive. I sju dagar (mellan den 5-12 januari) samlas några av världens snabbaste tv-spelare för att spela igenom mer än 115 spel, ofta på rekordtid. Spelandet strömmas över Twitch, ofta med en bra bit över 100 000 tittare. Under veckan samlas pengar in till förmån för cancerforskning. Alla intäkter skänks till Prevent Cancer Foundation.
Så, vad kan en förvänta sig av AGDQ 2014? För den som inte vill se sakerna live (länkar nedan!), kommer här en liten (två timmar!) best of-video från 2013. Här hittar du ingen som skäms för att riktigt insnöad och nördig. Tvärtom. En sjuk duktig spelare sitter med handkontrollen, en eller ett par kommenterar för strömmens tittare, och ett gäng dudes (oftast av manlig karaktär) hejar på. Så mycket skills. Så mycket kärlek.
Jag älskar det här. Förbehållslöst. Den där gemenskapen. Tanken på hur många hundra timmar varje person lagt på spelen innan hen tagit sig till AGDQ. Belöningen i att äntligen få visa upp sig, live, för sina gelikar.
