IAP – in app purchases – är ondskans påfund. Som en slags muterad version av arkadspelandet på 70- och 80-talet. Designat enbart för att ta dina pengar, en femma i taget. Riktat mot barn är det naturligtvis ännu värre. Alla har väl hört om de där föräldrarna som hade den lugnaste bilturen någonsin – och sedan fick reda på att kidsen i baksätet spenderat 40 000 kronor på smurfbär i iPad-spelet?
Också som spelare känner jag en sorg över att det är hit spelen kommit, 2015. Mobilmarknaden är så hård att du omöjligt kan ta betalt för dina spel – istället får du försöka göra din målgrupp så pass beroende av ditt spel att de helt enkelt måste betala pengar för att få ett nytt liv, eller liknande.
Men, jag undrar om det här är en åsikt jag skulle fortsätta argumentera för om någon höll upp en påse guld framför min näsa. Ponera att någon skulle vilja göra ”Michael Gill: Hollywood” och ge mig 45% av intäkterna. Intäkter som skulle genereras av IAP:s. Och så skulle jag, åtminstone initialt, tjäna typ 700 000 dollar per dag på det. Vad är ens principer värda?
