I natt gick Bay Area-legenden The Jacka bort efter att ha blivit skjuten i Oakland (KMEL). Sedan The Jacka och resten av hans grupp The Mob Figaz upptäcktes under sent 90-tal av västkustlegenden C-Bo i sin hemstad Pittsburg i norra Kalifornien har The Jacka hunnit med att utveckla och agera fanbärare för ett unikt sound i Bay Areas mob music. Vemodet, ångesten och melankolin i The Jackas verser som refränger är de mest greppbara känslouttrycken i musikhistorien.
Jag levde med The Mob Figaz, The Jacka och mob music som mitt främsta soundtrack i rätt många år. Från dagen jag upptäckte The Jackas musik under hyphy-eran när han tillsammans med Husalah släppte världens bästa mixtape nånsin i Animal Planet (datpiff, iTunes och Spotify) runt 2006-2007 spelade jag under en sju-åtta årsperiod varenda projekt han släppte dagen de släpptes. Gång på gång rullade de skivorna. Det är en av få artister jag sett till att höra exakt allt av.
Så glad att jag hann se honom live i Malmö här om året.
