EDF-serien kommer från ett parallellt universum där tv-spelen aldrig hade som ambition att växa upp. Det universumet heter Japan. B-filmskategorin har ingenting på det här. Svinstora monster, asfeta vapen och städer som jämnas med marken när dessa båda möts. Det brukar vara dumkul, och jag är nästan övertygad om att fyra personers co-op i EDF 2025 kommer vara just precis det.

Jag älskar fotboll. Och jag älskar flipper. Men två bra saker sammanslagna blir inte nödvändigtvis en enda jättebra sak. Fotbollskommentatorer som snackar varje gång du får poäng liksom? Jag blir less på FIFA/PES-kommentatorerna, och dom lär ju ha hundra gånger fler inspelade lines. Zen Studios är visserligen kända för att göra hyfsade flipper-spel, men jag har svårt att se att det här blir fantastiskt. De olika lagen har ju inte ens olika bord!? Då spelar jag hellre Farsight Studios Pinball Arcade, faktiskt. Om du absolut måste ha ha knasiga flipperkombos ska du söka upp Metroid Pinball NDS istället. Där snackar vi bra skit.

Någon på Square Enix har fattat grejen. Som en slags inför-pepp-video till kommande Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII (ja, det är det tredje FF-spelet med XIII i titeln) har de släppt en story-recap från XIII och XIII-2. Och de har gjort den i något som liknar Final Fantasy 6 (som är mitt favoritspel i serien, efter FF12). Och ärligt talat, det ser ju så sjukt mycket roligare ut än de fräsiga FMV-/CGI-festerna som vi bjudits på under senare år. Halvvägs in i klippet blir jag dock bara sugen på att stänga av och spela något gammalt, snarare än att harva i ett nytt tweenkostymdrama. Men det kanske bara är jag.
